The artist has handed over the entirety of his £25,000 award prize money to the Music Venues Trust, which operates to protect the Britain's independent live music spots.
Fender was awarded the prize on October 16 as his new release People Watching was named the best record of the last 12 months.
Fender has decided to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in recognition of the essential function grassroots venues fulfilled in his early career.
"I personally wouldn't be doing this success if it hadn't been for all the performances I did around the region, and further afield, when I was just getting going," said Sam Fender. "These spaces are renowned, but they are struggling."
Beginning in 2023, over 150 of these spaces have ceased operations – about 16 percent of the entire UK sector.
In the last year, well-known musicians like the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all backed the trust in its efforts to help venues survive, by adding a modest fee to their ticket costs, which goes to help independent venues.
Fender also participated, raising more than £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to assist 38 local spots across the UK.
The money helped spaces that were confronting possible closure due to difficulties stemming from floods, blazes and personal losses, as well as permit problems, court cases and sound issues.
Additional spaces received financial assistance in upgrading infrastructure and sound and lighting systems that directly benefitted artists and audiences.
"The notion that revenue from shows in large arenas helps the smaller venues, where it all starts for artists like me, is just sensible," Fender has said.
